Computer-Controlled Cutting

• Design, make, and document a parametric press-fit construction kit
• Cut something on the vinylcutter

For this week assignment, I wanted to design a press fit kit model for my final project. I start by understanding the configuration of the cockpit of Cessena-172 and trying to figure out how to design a parametric press-fit construction of it using laser cutter.

I used Solidworks 2015 in the modeling process.

After I finished my design, I start to assemble the kit by opening "Assembly Part File" in Solid Works to make sure that the parts could be assembled together and not waste any matrilas.

Following, I exported the drawing parts as "DFX files" so the Laser Cut machine can understand it. Then I used CoralDRAW to arrange the parts to be ready to cut.

Then customized the speed and the power of the machine before cutting.

Then I downloaded the file on the machine and start the cutting process.
